Dancer, Motivational Speaker, Reality Show Star…Now Push Girls Chelsie Hill is an Author, Too
Talented dancer, public speaker, founder of the Walk and Roll Foundation and star of Sundance Channel's award-winning reality TV series Push Girls has another accomplishment to add to her long list of achievements. Her first novel PUSH GIRL, a story that closely mirrors her own, co-written with young adult author Jessica Love is on sale now everywhere books are sold.
PUSH GIRL follows high school senior Kara Moore who is living a bit of a charmed life. Sure, her parents are fighting a little more than usual, and sure, her ex won't leave her alone. But she has a solo coming up in her fall dance recital, she has a gorgeous water polo-playing boyfriend, and everything seems to be going her way.
Until she gets hit by a drunk driver.
Kara wakes up in the hospital weeks later with no memory of the accident that put her there. She can't figure out how or why she's hospitalized, or, even worse, why she can't feel her legs. Suddenly Kara has to adjust to a new reality. Life in a wheelchair is a huge change for Kara, and so is the shift in the way people look at her and treat her now that she has lost the use of her legs.
PUSH GIRL is a hopeful look at life in a wheelchair, what it means to be an inspiration and staying positive in the face of adversity.
Chelsie and Jessica's novel PUSH GIRL is already receiving praise from prominent authors in the young adult community.
"Push Girl's Kara doesn't want to be an inspiration, but she (and author Chelsie Hill) are exactly that in this honest, feisty and painfully real story of one girl's adjustment to life on two wheels."
—Deb Caletti, National Book Award finalist and author of The Queen of Everything and The Story of Us
"Push Girl is more than a survival story; it's about the power of turning pain and anger into hope and inspiration. Filled with heart and humor, it's an unforgettable, moving read."
--Tamara Ireland Stone, author of Time Between Us
"A compelling journey into Kara's unforeseen, life-altering event and a revealing look at society's various reactions to the physically challenged. It's a story of love, desire and regret, tragedy, loss and triumph, of those who stand with you through the darkness and others who can't, or simply won't. We're with Kara as she struggles to accept her post-accident life and forge new relationships with her friends, family and most importantly, herself. Push Girl is all life-as-normal, until suddenly, irreversibly it isn't and Kara's journey to build a new normal is a wrenching but ultimately triumphant one of strength, determination and heart. Go, Kara!"
—Laura Weiss, author of Such a Pretty Girl
"Push Girl is a tender, inspirational, and, most of all, important story about courage and adversity and never losing sight of who you are."
—Jennifer Brown, author of Hate List
