Why? Because They Said They Would.

For years, a group of dedicated adults from the Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities‘ Rocky River Adult Activities Center has been volunteering their time on Wednesday mornings at because I said I would, a nonprofit dedicated to bettering humanity through promises made and kept. Together, Tasha, Dan, Eric and Maureen use teamwork to count, package, label, stamp and mail thousands of Promise Cards each week to people throughout the world. These cards inspire others to make, keep and share their promises to better themselves, their relationships and their communities.

Because I Said I Would Volunteers

In addition to their contribution to the operations of because I said I would, this group brings smiles, hugs and high fives to brighten the days of staff members and volunteers at the organization’s Ohio headquarters. Occasionally during their work sessions, you can overhear exchanges of encouragement. One of the favorites is, “Teamwork makes the dream work!” followed by an enthusiastic “Oh yeah!”

Making the World a Better Place, One Kept Promise at a Time

Because I said I would is an international social movement at the forefront of shifting how the world views commitment and accountability. They do this through chapters of volunteers; character education in schools and prisons; accountability programs; and awareness campaigns with global reach. It began with a viral offer to send ten Promise Cards to anyone in the world by request only (at no cost) as a way to honor and memorialize Founder Alex Sheen’s father, whose most admirable quality was being a person of his word.

With more than 11.3 million Promise Cards distributed to over 153 countries, this cause has played a unique role in changing lives around the world and keeps this volunteer “Dream Team” in demand.
