Family Support and Education Specialist, Westside Family Resource and Empowerment Center/Westside Regional Center

Ereida is a dedicated Family Support and Education Specialist at the Westside Family Resource and Empowerment Center/Westside Regional Center. She brings over 20 years of experience in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. Her work focuses on providing essential support to individuals and families facing the challenges of developmental disabilities.

As a key member of the Westside Regional Center (WRC) team working at their Westside Family Resource and Empowerment Center, Ereida’s responsibilities include guiding families of children and young adults with disabilities or developmental differences through navigating systems of care to secure necessary services. This involves identifying additional needs and referring to relevant community, government, and social service agencies. The role also entails assisting families with obtaining services through Individual Education Plans (IEPs) or 504 plans, facilitating group training on special education services and policies, and maintaining collaborative partnerships to stay informed of local resources. Moreover, as a specialist, she offers one-to-one support to parents and families and facilitates educational presentations and workshops for families, professionals, and community members. Additionally, she participates in advisory committees to shape program policies and outreach initiatives.

Her commitment to serving the community led her to graduate from the California Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (CA-LEND) Training Program, where she developed skills to support better children and families facing neurodevelopmental challenges.

Personally, Ereida is a proud parent of three wonderful young adults, one of whom, Johnny, has quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy and various chronic medical conditions. Johnny’s journey has inspired Ereida to advocate passionately for families facing similar challenges, aiming to make their lives easier through her professional expertise and personal experiences.

Beyond her role at WRC, Ereida actively contributes to the Inclusive Sol support group for parents and caregivers of children with Cerebral Palsy. Her firsthand knowledge and

compassionate approach make her a valuable asset to families in need of support and guidance.
