Kelley Brooks Simoneaux, The Pushy Lawyer, is an attorney and disability rights advocate based in Washington, DC. As the founder of The Spinal Cord Injury Law Firm, PLLC, she represents individuals with spinal cord injuries and other catastrophic harms. Paralyzed at 16 due to a car wreck, Kelley’s personal experience fuels her dedication to her clients and her advocacy work. She is the first woman with a spinal cord injury to open a law firm focused on the disability community, demonstrating the importance of becoming your own best advocate.Kelley’s work extends beyond the courtroom, advocating for improved accessibility and inclusivity in transportation. After being denied an Uber ride in 2018, she founded Wheel2Ride to champion better rideshare services for those with mobility disabilities. She serves on several boards, including the ENDependence Center of Northern Virginia and the Wheels of Happiness Foundation, and advises various government agencies on disability rights.Through her own journey and her work as a lawyer, Kelley emphasizes that no one will fight harder for you than you will fight for yourself. She also promotes adaptive sports, working to make Adaptive Boxing a Paralympic sport. A mom of three, Kelley balances her advocacy with family life, finding moments for adaptive yoga and boxing.
