The Executive Director of Canines for Disabled Kids (CDK) Kristin Hartness was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1993, and became a service dog partner in April 2001 – it changed her life.  She never looked back.

Expanding awareness and acceptance of service dogs while providing scholarships assisting children obtaining these amazing tools, Kristin travels the country to help people understand service dogs: why they are used, how they are used and what the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) says about the regarding public access and responsibilities; helping those who might wish to use service animals to help overcome their disabilities find facilities that can train animals specifically for them.

Kristin knows firsthand the independence a service dog brings to an individual, blending personal experience with professional knowledge she shares knowledge in presentations and articles, encouraging people to look at things from a slightly different angle, Kristin works to make the right connections which will produce the perfect service dog partnership.

Kristin speaks nationally and internationally on the value of assistance dogs in the lives of people living with a variety of disabilities.
