Embrace New Adventures with No Limits Adaptive Climbing and Coloplast

The only way the words "barriers" and "limits" figure into Paralympian Mark Wellman's vocabulary is if they are preceded by a "no." When you scale his 25-foot adaptive climbing wall at the Abilities Expo, you'll find that Mark's inspiring lexicon is contagious!

Please join us at the No Limits adaptive climbing wall for a horizon-changing adventure during your visit. Generously sponsored by Coloplast, this extreme experience is nothing short of magical for attendees over the age of five who have disabilities. You'll be able to take part in this free event at the upcoming Chicago Abilities Expo on June 25-27, as well as at the Houston, Los Angeles, New York, and Dallas shows.

No Limits welcomes groups, families with children, and solo climbers to take turns on the adaptive climbing wall as Mark's well-trained adaptive climbing team helps to safely guide your adventure. (Please note, physical weight limits do apply.)

"I love seeing people explore out of their comfort zone as they can also experience a feeling as I had on El Capitan as the first paraplegic to climb that mountain successfully," Mark shares. "Thanks to Coloplast's support, we offer the latest technology in adaptive climbing equipment that you're sure to enjoy when you visit the Expo."

"We are thrilled to share the joy of adaptive climbing with families, friends and customers who visit us at Abilities Expos nationwide," Coloplast Marketing Director Sergej van Gorkum says. "We also invite you to explore more options with us as you meet Mark and our fantastic team of adventure guides and healthcare advisors at this free and inclusive event."

How You Can Scale the Adaptive Climbing Wall

Over his 20-plus years as an adaptive climber, Mark developed innovative climbing techniques and sports gear adaptations that are customized for each individual. As every disability presents its unique challenges for each individual, Mark and his skilled guides assess every person before introducing them to a comfortable system of harnesses and pulleys that get you out of your chair and climbing up the wall.

The thrill of reaching the summit, unencumbered by mobility equipment, makes your experience even more triumphant!

The adaptive climbing wall is available on a first-come, first-served basis during show hours.

Mark Wellman's Amazing Adaptive Climbing Achievements

Mark's mountain climbing career began at the age of 12. His passion for this kind of adventure was so strong that not even the climbing accident that took his ability to walk could quench it. He made history as the first paraplegic to conquer the sheer 3,000-foot face of El Capitan in Yosemite National Park and continued his records of achievement a few years later when he scaled Half Dome.

An adventure-seeking attitude has led Mark to:

  • scale mountains all over the world,
  • work as a park ranger in Yosemite,
  • compete as a Paralympian skier,
  • author his autobiography, entitled Climbing Back, and
  • bring his wealth of experience and unique outlook to his business, No Limits.

Partnering with Coloplast to Bring You Bigger Adventures

Mark Wellman isn't just a fan of scenic outdoor sports; he's also a peer counselor and public speaker who educates the spinal cord community on ways to expand your active lifestyle. He has personally used Coloplast's urology and skin care products for more than 20 years to stay healthy and ready to climb his next mountain.

"I can't say enough about Coloplast's medical products, in terms of their quality and impact on my life," Mark relays. "I've been paralyzed for nearly 40 years and have chosen to use Coloplast supplies for the majority of them. Today, I'm an active user of the Speedicath® Standard catheter for men because it's super convenient while minimizing my UTIs.ꭞ I also highly recommend Coloplast Sween® Cream, as it has helped me take care of my skin on a daily basis for many years. Pressure sores can take the best of us out of action, and I have thankfully kept those to a minimum too with the help of Sween Cream."

If you'd like to try a sample of Speedicath® visit our website and request a sample*. For more information visit with Mark and the Coloplast team in Booth 717 at the Chicago Abilities Expo on June 25-27 at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center. Register for your complimentary Expo pass here
