The Art of Self Expression

Wheelchair Tattoo on Annie Hopkins

Because disability spans all races, creeds, genders and orientations, Abilities Expo is very much a "slice of life." While all attendees are members of a very large, but uniquely connected community, their individual diversity is especially apparent in the ways they choose to express themselves.

Take the following group of Expo-goers, proudly distinguishing themselves through their tattoos. Some reflect their artistic inclinations; others memorialize a person or event that holds great meaning; others—like those with the International Symbol of Acceptance a.k.a. Wheelchair Heart—chose a unifying emblem of their solidarity with the Community.
