First-Ever Abilities Job Fair at Abilities Expo
The United States Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reports that, in 2015, only 17.5% of people with a disability were employed. These dismal demographics underscore the need for Abilities Expo's newest feature: The Abilities Job Fair. This much-needed career event will take place for ONE DAY ONLY on Friday, March 24, 2017, from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Los Angeles Convention Center right on the Expo show floor.
The first annual Abilities Job Fair is sponsored by the City of Los Angeles Department on Disability (DOD), the Workforce Development Board City of Los Angele (WDB) , City of Los Angeles Economic & Workforce Development Department (EWDD) and Los Angeles County Workforce Development Aging & Community Service (WDACS) .
"The Department on Disability is overjoyed to work with the City of Los Angeles Economic Workforce Development Department (EWDD), Workforce Development Board (WDB) and County of Los Angeles Workforce Development Aging and Community Services to address the vital need for the disabilities community across this great city," said Stephen David Simon, Executive Director of the City of Los Angeles Department on Disability.
Not only will nearly 30 forward-thinking organizations be looking to fill their ranks with talented professionals from the disability community, but Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti will also drop by to wish the jobseekers well.
