Versa Mobility: Versatile New Walker Footing Revolutionizes Experience
As a clinical speech language pathologist and hearing instrument specialist with nearly 25 years of patient care under her belt, Jackie Sullivan had a front row seat to the exasperation of both patients loved ones who just wanted their walkers to work properly.
Traditional Walker Footings and Tennis Balls Do Not Get the Job Done
In her professional world, Jackie witnessed her patients' frustrations as they fought their walkers to glide down hallways properly. She was there to help kick walker skis back into alignment due to the friction with ambulation, and often overheard staff often comment on how piercingly loud some walkers sounded throughout their facilities.
In her own home setting, she has cared for loved ones who had inadvertently scratched her hardwood floors by bringing their walkers in from the outside, leaving the almost exposed metal walker legs to rub on the ground as it punctured through the tennis ball footing.
In addition, most current walker footings are nearly impossible to clean and properly maintain, forcing the consumer to either frequently repurchase walker footings, bring the outside germs into their home or purchase a second walker with separate footings to designate one walker for outdoor use and the other for indoor use.
Versa Mobility Launches Innovative New Walker Footing
Jackie joined forces with Tom Gillen, an engineer with several patents in the dental industry and cofounder of Versa Mobility, to create a solution that would alleviate these frustrations. The result is a highly effective, versatile, and durable product that is also incredibly convenient. The required Philip screwdriver is included in all kits, making installation and removal easy. The secondary soft surface footing, with carpeting directly integrated into the plastic, is much more durable than current felt products.
Versa Select™
Versa Select™, a patented hinged design walker footing, offers a unique dual coaster design that includes a hard plastic surface for outdoor settings and a secondary carpeted surface coaster for indoor flooring.
This innovative design ensures that consumers can use their walkers safely and comfortably in both home and outdoor settings. The safety features of the product provide a sense of security, especially with the knowledge there is additional protection from outside debris and germs, further enhancing the safety of the product.
Versa Coast™
Versa Coast™, a patented snap design walker footing, offers unparalleled ease of use and versatility. It allows the consumer to remove the secondary carpeted surface coaster so it is not exposed to the conditions of the outdoor settings.
With the product bag provided, the consumer can store the coasters to take on the go as needed. When returning to their home setting, the consumer can align the secondary coaster underneath the walker and snap it back into place.
Walker Footing Improvements Elevate Quality of Life
Versa Mobility offer these benefits for the disability community:
- 2 in 1 design for indoor and outdoor use
- Smoother and quieter glide
- Footing stays locked into position
- Aesthetically appealing
- More durable and easy to clean
- Ease of install and removal
- Tool included in kits
- Made in the USA
- Antimicrobial additive coming soon
As part of Versa Mobility's commitment to continuous improvement, they recently announced that the primary hard plastic surface footing will soon include an anti-microbial additive. This enhancement is designed to maximize cleanliness for the consumer, providing added peace of mind.
In addition, the consumer can now clean the carpeted surface as needed, making it ideal for prolonged use in the indoor setting. Finally, consumers can easily switch between indoor and outdoor walker footings on the same walker, providing a level of convenience previously unheard of.
This patented design is also quieter and even more aesthetically appealing. That is, unless you like the look of dirty tennis balls on walkers! Consumers with carpeted homes may wish to purchase a secondary hard surface indoor coaster to keep their homes protected from outside debris and germs.
The Versa Select and Versa Coast kits will continue to come with a Philip screwdriver required for installation, and individual replacement parts will be available for purchase as needed.
